Congratulations to WAMMA's COO Mike Lynch, for finally getting on the winning track with his victory over Tim. Don't worry, Tim, we will send you a WAMMA t-shirt for just being a good sport!

Tim's Biography:
My name is Tim Potter and I was born and raised in Massachusetts. I am a die hard Red Sox and Pats fan, and have to admit, more of a bandwagon Celtics fan. I have been a huge fan of MMA and been following it for about 6 years. Being an avid fan of MMA, I have also trained in jujitsu, boxing, and Maui Thai myself. I attended UFC 82 in Ohio, and sat 5 rows from the cage… it was an unbelievable experience to say the least. I got to meet many of the fighters and the show certainly did not disappoint. My favorite fighters are mostly old school guys because they are who got me into the sport but the new and young talent in MMA in undeniable. My favorite fighters include Wanderlei Silva, Matt Hughes, Chuck Liddell, Rich Franklin, Anderson Silva, and GSP. My least favorite fighters are definitely Ortiz and Serra. They both have great skills but run their mouths way too much, which is why they probably lose so many fans. I used to be a giant Randy Couture fan as well, but lost interest in him with the latest developments and lawsuits. I can’t stand how things are becoming political and some fighters seem more interested in becoming famous and getting attention than just going out and fighting. I love the fighters that just love to fight, and win or lose they want to put on a good show. Some of these guys to me, include Wanderlei, Roger Huerta, Urijah Faber, Marcus Davis, and Clay Guida. There are many more, but these just came to mind. The most exciting fights seem to be coming from the lightweight division but the majority of my favorite fighters come from light heavyweight. In regards to other organizations competing with the UFC, I think this is a good thing if they could all work together, but they need to be run by the right people. Dana White and the Fertittas have literally built an empire and it feels that people like Gary Shaw are just trying to cash in on their success rather than better the sport. With the right management and ownership, these organizations could go a long way in “legitimizing” MMA to the skeptical doubters out there. The UFC will continue to reign supreme as they have far and away the best talent pool of fighters, along with the most experienced management. As you can tell, I am very opinionated about all topics of MMA and am pysched to have the opportunity from Mike to sound off!
Tim's Commentary:
I think we are going to see the Matt Hughes of old in this fight with big takedowns and vicious ground and pound. It is a tough one to bet on as Alves has devastating KO power but I think if Hughes can catch one of the nasty leg kicks and take him down, he can avoid being knocked out as he ground and pounds his way to victory. In the Bisping vs Day fight, I think this actually has fight of the night potential. I would love to see it be a 3 round war, but think that with Bisping’s improved cardio in his new weight class, he will be able to overwhelm Day with strikes in Round 2. Marcus Davis is one of my favorite fighters, and I was not impressed with Swick’s controversial win over Burkman. I think that Davis will continue the streak as long as he can avoid the initial onslaught that Quick Swick is surely looking to bring. Nate’s jujitsu skills should be good enough to avoid being submitted and his overall strength will come into play as he will ground and pound Leites. Vera is desperately looking for a rebound win after losing a disappointing fight to big Tim. I see Vera winning by KO due to head kick in round 1. Looks to be an exciting night of fights, after all of the switching around of the card. Props to Liddell to making an appearance out there as well, showing he is one of the best faces of the sport. Can’t wait to see him fight Silva again!

Mike vs. Joe for Elite XC Event (May 31, 2008)
The WAMMA COO's record fell to a dismal 0-3 with an ill-fated pick on Kaitlin Young to pull out the upset over Gina Carano. Congrats Joe! Wear your WAMMA t-shirt with pride - You Beat Mike!
Joe's Biography:
I was born and still currently live in Columbus, Ohio. Yes, that means I am a die-hard Buckeye fan and bleed scarlet and gray. I am also a huge Cincinnati Reds fan particularly of the Reds during the great "Big Red Machine" days. On the fighting side, MMA has been of great interest to me since the Severn, Goodrich, Gracie and Shamrock days when UFC was tournament style. MMA and its fighters have grown vastly since then. My favorite fighter is without a doubt B.J. Penn, who is one of a select few that has no weaknesses. Thanks to Michael Lynch for the opportunity to make picks on the upcoming EliteXC card.
Joe's Commentary:
Is James Thompson still conscious? Not for long as soon as the bell sounds as he is the designated stiff for Kimbo to hammer. I think a hard falling leaf from a tree might actually knock Thompson out. Do not get up as this one will be over before the end of round one for sure. The Lawler vs Smith fight I feel is a "go the distance" type of bout with Lawler pushing the pace but unable to get the knockout. Carano vs Young is a complete mis-match that will highlight Gina the hottest lady in MMA. Brett Rogers was the last guy to put James Thompson to sleep in his last bout and although I think Murphy has some ability it will not be enough to keep this bout going past round 2. Finally, the fight which I believe will be the fight of the night is Baroni vs Villasenor. Both veteran fighters have to win this fight as either one could be the next to fight for the title or the next to get the boot from EliteXC. The fists will be flying from the start of this bout but for some reason I believe this fight will also go the distance. I could be wrong as either fighter could get knocked out by the other but I really think these vets in a bloody battle will make the judges decide and my edge goes to Joey.
| Fight | Joe's Picks | Mike's Picks |
| Kimbo Slice vs James Thompson |
Kimbo by KO, round one between the 30 second and 1 minute mark. | Kimbo by KO, round one 39 seconds. It will be a one punch knockout. |

| Gina Carano vs Kaitlin Young |
Carano by submission via rear-naked choke, round two. | Young by strikes from mount, round two. |
| Brett Rogers vs Jon Murphy |
Rogers by KO, round two (punches/strikes). | Rogers by knockout, round one, 3 minute mark. |

Mike vs. Justin for UFC 84
Dropping his fight prediction record to 0-2, WAMMA COO Mike Lynch took it on the chin in a close contest against Justin. Although tied on wins, Justin nabbed the victory on style points. Congratulations Justin!
Justin's Biography:
I'm currently 22 years old. I am from a small town in the South-Western part of Virginia called Wise. I enlisted in the Marine Corps for a 5 year contract a week after I turned 18. I signed up to be a Spanish Linguist and was sent to Monterey, California and San Angelo, Texas for schools. I was then stationed at Camp Lejeune where I assumed different duties than my actual MOS. I have been in the Marines for about 4 1/2 years and have deployed to Iraq twice in the past 2 years and I am about to get out and start a civilian career this October.
Justin's Commentary:
I don't believe that any of these fights are going to go the distance and I am especially looking forward to the Ortiz/Machida fight because they both have a lot on the line. Ortiz will keep Machida off of his feet and his back against the cage and eventually in the 2nd will land a good elbow that will set up several blows that will force the TKO. T. Silva vs Mendes - T. Silva is going to attack right away and probably drop Mendez within the first 2 minutes. W.Silva vs Jardine - Silva has been around too long and has seen what Jardine can do when he is taken lightly. Silva will test the waters in the first round and close in for the KO in the second. Penn vs Sherk - This is going to be a battle on the ground...eventually in the 2nd round Penn will get Sherk's back by landing punishing blows from the guard and sweep in for the choke. Good luck and I hope for my sake that my analysis is on point.
| Fight | Justin's Picks | Mike's Picks |
| BJ Penn v. Sean Sherk | Penn by Rear Naked choke, round two. | Penn by Triangle choke, round two. |
| Wanderlei Silva v. Keith Jardine | Silva by KO, round two. | Jardine by KO, round three (punches). |
| Wilson Gouveia v. Goran Reljic | Gouveia by TKO, round one. | Reljic by KO, round one (punches). |
| Tito Ortiz v. Lyoto Machida | Ortiz by TKO, round two. | Tito by unanimous decision victory. |
| Thiago Silva v. Antonio Mendes | Silva by KO, round one. | Silva by unanimous decision victory. |
